Cell Phone Policy
Posted on 12/10/2021

Elijah Stroud Middle School has established a new mandatory cell phone policy for the 2021-2022 academic school year.  This new cell phone policy will minimize distractions in our classrooms and create an environment that will maintain academic excellence for our students as they strive towards achieving their academic goals.  The guidelines below detail the expectations of Elijah Stroud Middle School’s new cell phone policy.  Please review these guidelines with your child:

  • The use of cellphones will be prohibited during instructional periods throughout the school day; therefore, all cellphones will be collected from our students at the beginning of the school day and returned to them at dismissal.

  • All students’ cell phones will be collected, labeled by student number and class and stored in a locked safe until the end of the school day. Only a school official can access the cell phones. The phones will be secure and safe during our school hours (8:20 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.).

  • If there is an emergency, our Main Office staff or the Parent Coordinator will contact you immediately.

  • If you need to contact your child, please call the Main Office at 718-638-3067 and a staff member will be happy to direct your call.

  • If a child needs to contact their parent, he/she may seek the Parent Coordinator’s help/support or go to the Main Office and the student will be able to contact you.

  • Unauthorized use of cell phone(s) during school hours is prohibited and will be confiscated from the student and can be retrieved by a parent or guardian only during office hours.
